Brothers,  For the past 5 week Pastor has thoroughly explained Gods redemptive salvation in the series "THE GIFTS OF JESUS". It was thorough, it was rich and it clearly explained the foundation that we as believers must stand on.  To sum up these messages we could make this statement;  IT IS THE ETERNAL LIFE OF CHRIST IN YOU THAT SAVES.  
Which brings us to my point. John 3:16.  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that who so ever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  To emphasis one point in this vs. - we are to "HAVE SOMETHING NOW". You might say Brian what's the big deal? I will attempt to answer that question in the following.


Saving Faith; All scripture "truth" is our standard where by we live. Truth is the bedrock of our foundation, if we keep keep truth in its context. For an example; you and I have a conversation. I can take one phrase of that conversation with an infuses that is contrary to the original. Tell someone else - what happens? The phrase in the second instance would not be accurate to the original - correct.
John 3:16 the hallmark of verse's to win new converts has a context that is over looked by a great majority of the Christian's today. Jesus the God/man, second Adam, gave Nicodemus this perfect explanation of the new birth in John ch3. The simple highlights are as follows:
1) Confirming your existence as a man; Except a man be born of water - IE your existence  as man with two feet on the earth.
2) Confirming your existence as eternal man;  You must be born of the Spirit to escape the sentence of DEAD TO GOD in every way spiritually. I know this is a simple explanation but I am trying to be quick and straight to the point.  I encourage you to go back and read the entirety of the chapter. Jesus uses these illustrations for a reason and we should take note as The Lord of Glory speaks.

Which brings me to Saving Faith. Are you ready!  I have a problem with presenting the gospel as; "say this prayer and you shall be saved". "Or just make a decision to follow God".  First of all; how can the carnal mind (which is dead to god) make a decision to follow God? We can go out and do a masterful job of coursing someone to agree to say a prayer. Come back to our home church and get our pat on the back as "DOING THE WORK OF GOD".  Mean while the person we left behind stays on the streets and apparently had no desire to follow us back to our home church, let alone follow after God.  
If we look at John 3:16 in context, the new birth - To Have "as pastor explained" the everlasting or eternal one living inside of us there must be a union. Jesus explained being born of water. We know how that works, man and women fall in love agree to swim sink or die get married and there is a union that takes place and a child is born - YOU!  although eternally a dead man but nonetheless you. The next stage  as eternal man (but dead).  Jesus - The SECOND ADAM and LORD OF LIFE comes along taps you on the shoulder and introduces Himself. Usually through a series of events and if you respond back to Him. He showers you with an overwhelming love, which is His invitation for you to follow him. With the hope that you will give yourself to him swim sink or drown for the rest of your life. A union - your dead spirit with the smallest of feeble speck of faith and the everlasting Lord of Glory "in the person of the Holy Spirit agree to give all in union together and the offspring is a NEW CREATION IN CHRIST JESUS.
Hopefully that is a clear understanding of the new birth, so lets take this to the next level. How do we get this new testament  birth?
1) Union; There must be a fully committed union. There is no mistaking that when God invites us into his family. We are flooded with a love that we have never known. His intention is that we will be so overwhelmed by his perfect love that we will give all that we are and ever will be to him. Although we may not know it yet, He has given all that He is to you!  The result from a union of YOUR SPIRIT AND THE HOLY SPIRIT will be a NEW CREATION IN CHRIST JESUS.  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are past away; behold, all things are become new.
2) The Alter; There is no better place to have an introduction to the Lord of Glory than at the alter. For the new convert I believe that we should make ourselves available to pray with, encourage and do our best to give this person a PROPER INTRODUCTION TO THE LORD OF GLORY. Staying with them at our precious alters until they have prayed through to ETERNITY. It is a rare thing for someone who has made their surrender at the alters and prayed through to glory. To later walk away from so great a salvation. In contrast; we can give a person the opportunity to make a mental attempt at being saved and no real experience with the Lord of Glory and consequently no change.
3) Repentance; With a proper introduction at an alter and God's overwhelming love and light. You will naturally want to repent. I have seen new converts get up from the alter, drive to another city and ask for forgiveness from enemies and friends alike that they formerly had a dispute with and putting there back to their old way of doing things. REPENTANCE IS ABSOLUTLY NECESSARY IF YOU ARE TO HAVE SAVING FAITH!
4) Confession: There must be a public confession in the congregation and elsewhere to seal the deal of this new union/relationship. For with the heart man believes but with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

A Saving Faith is a faith that rest on the foundation of an eternal God who is spirit. In the heavens there is a river of life that flows out from under the alter. This is where life proceeds from in Gods presences, in the glory of heaven. And God honors our alters so that we just as in heaven can have the REAL THING  "A SAVING FAITH".
If this message resonates with you and you might be wondering if you have the real thing. The truest and best way to know if you truly have A SAVING FAITH is;  ARE YOU AWARE OF ANOTHER PERSONALITY THAT LIVES INSIDE OF YOU.
I have had many beloved friends who are good as gold but not have A SAVING FAITH, Some of them have gone to church most of their lives but not have A SAVING FAITH. Some of them even knocked on doors to hand out tracks, prayed for the sick, seen miracles but not have A SAVING FAITH. There's no better place to get the real thing than at the alters. Please Please I urge you, if you have doubts don't dely. Follow through with these steps or as the the Lord may lead and you will have A SAVING FAITH.
Also when we share this great gospel to the unsaved please don't short change the world. They need the real thing  A SAVING FAITH!  As God leads you can tell the lost your testimony and if God makes a spiritual alter for them  right where your at "Praise God". Then tell them they must follow through and come to church. Get them to the alters and be supportive BUT DONT GET IN THE WAY OF GOD. Our job is to do all that we can do for an introduction, the rest is in God's hands. If they are unwilling to come to church, go to the alters, repent, make a confession of faith publicly. They are not ready and probably not saved. Be assured God is relentless in His pursuit of the lost. Put them in Gods hands and move on.
