John 3:6 - That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

The 3rd chapter gospel of John is the pillar of truth, perfectly explained by our savior and champion - the Lord Jesus Christ. In that explanation he defines the plan of God toward us, that there be no misunderstanding. Lets begin.

Leading to this verse Jesus is giving the world a profound yet simplistic view of Gods requirement for mankind to have something. He talks to Nicodemus in the personal; Nicodemus - unless a man be born of the Spirit he cannot see or enter the KINGDOM of "GOD".  Then He slips in this truth -  That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit; He didn't say he that is born of.

He goes from the personal address to Nicodemus to a more broader meaning. touching more than just the person of man. This was important to Jesus and it should be important to us.  To define the two as different and we will see them as polar opposite the further explained. Let me read an expanded version: That which is born of flesh is flesh and by nature is fleshly; that which is born of Spirit is spirit and by nature spiritual. Jesus referred to the spiritual as a realm, so we could say these two realms are polar opposites. One - flesh is darkened, the other - Spirit is Light; One - is dead, the other - is Life in God; One - is ruled by mind will and emotions, the other - is ruled by the HOLY SPIRIT. These are their natures.

I see a great gulf between the two and man can chose to function in some degree in both realms.  We see this in the world and in church.

But GOD CANNOT.  He is Spirit and will not touch anything of the flesh. We can be moved by emotion but that's no guarantee its God. The importance of this to God is huge.  This is the reason for His plan of redemption. To bring man back into right relationship. Adam did move and have communion with God in the Spirit. But death came by the one - Adam and Jesus was the answer of God for the problem. He came to fulfill the heart of God and to have a bride by process of redeeming mankind.

Years ago a good friend of mine gave a valuable lesson in the form of example and it went like this: When someone is hired by a bank he must have the ability to recognize the difference between counterfeit and real currency. You would think that the lesson plan would be to study counterfeit money. But you would be wrong.  The new employee is given the real thing, to feel it, to look at it, to smell it, to study it.  The bank has found that the best way to recognize a counterfeit is to KNOW THE REAL THING.

We have been studying and searching out the real thing; Mediate on Him, His attributes, what He likes and doesn't like.

If it isn't born of God - IT AINT GOD!

If it isn't holy - IT AINT GOD

We are seeing Jesus operate and live in the Spirit in these chapters. His attributes and ways are clearly seen as spiritual and as our perfect example - emulate Him!

Ill leave you with this: You can never go wrong if the path you are walking on is sprinkled with the blood of Christ.
